Sabine High School is proud to announce senior Devin Thompson as a semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. He is the son of Chad and Teresa Thompson. Devin is one of 1.6 million juniors in over 22,000 high schools that entered the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). This exam served as the initial screen for program entrants. As a semifinalist, Devin represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. The highest-scoring entrants in each state are chosen proportionally according to the state’s percentage of graduating seniors. Devin, as a National Merit Semifinalist, is eligible to continue in the competition for some of 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth approximately $33 million to be offered to seniors in the spring. To be considered for this award, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of the competition.
