I was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. After graduating high school, I went to Howard Payne University in Brownwood, TX. I graduated in the Fall of 1994, with a bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in theology and minoring in music. After graduation, I began working on a masters degree and did some substitute teaching at the time. That is when I discovered how much I love teaching. So, I decided to go through an alternative teaching certification program, and was certified as a 4-8 Generalist Teacher (Math, Science, ELA, and Social Studies). I began my teaching career at Frank Newman Middle School in Cotulla, TX. I then met the love of my life, and moved to Alice, TX. I taught for two years at Freer High School in Freer, TX. Then my wife and decided to move here to Kilgore, TX. I then received my 8-12 Math certification and my special education certification. I began teaching at the Ranch Academy Tyler campus. In an effort to get a little closer to home, I then taught at Winona High School. After seeing an opportunity to get real close to home here at Sabine ISD, I jumped at the chance. I love teaching special education. I think what really pulled at me to work with special education was my cousin who was considered too low for special education, but too high for life skills.
