ART 1 is an introductory art class that includes all basic standard art practices, including drawing, painting, sculpture, art appreciation, art critique & art history. Students will experience hands-on, creative activities, as well as cultural & historical aspects of art.
ART 2, 3 & 4 build on the content, skills & techniques acquired in ART 1. These classes include standard art practices in which students choose their focus, media & direction facilitated by the instructor. ART 2, 3 & 4 includes drawing, painting, sculpture, art appreciation, art critique & art history, along with the expectation to create original artwork for contest and portfolio purposes.
AP ART students will create a portfolio of college-level artwork that will be submitted to the college board for evaluation. College credit can be earned for a qualifying portfolio score of 3+. Students will build on their knowledge & skills acquired in previous art classes, choose their focus, media & direction facilitated by the instructor, follow the guidelines for advanced courses, rigorous agenda & strict portfolio requirements concerning the artwork that is produced & its submission set by the AP College Board.
