Sabine Cross Country Has Two State Qualifiers in 2018

2018 is officially the 'Year of The Cardinal'.  Congratulations to the Sabine Cross Country teams for their incredible performance at the Region II UIL Cross Country Championship.  The varsity boys team earned 6th place overall out of 34 teams!  Sophomore, David Robinson led the way with his 6th place finish out of 174 runners!  David ran a time of 16 minutes and 37 seconds and qualified for the State Cross Country meet.  Saniel Acosta also earned a medal and a trip to State with his 10th place finish, running a 3 mile time of 16 minutes and 41 seconds.  Caleb Cox was 59th place, Wesley McGarity 65th place, Alex Barrios finished 66th.  Trenton Ausmus came in 89th place, and Seth Griffin 130th place.  David and Sammy will compete in the UIL State Championships on Saturday, November 3rd in Round Rock, Texas.

In the girls race, Sabine finished 17th in the team standings out of 34 teams.  Sarah Webb came in 31st place out of 173 runners, Macy Rutland finished 45th place, Bethani Roper 86th, Lesli Flores 103rd, and Paige Bynog 127th.  These athletes have all done a great job, working very hard this season, and our community is still 100% behind David and Sammy as they continue training for the State Cross Country meet!
